Well did Dickens say, in the first paragraph of his classic, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way . . . it was the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five.” Sounds a lot like 2012, doesn’t it? From what I’ve read of him, Charles Dickens likely was a Christian. In fact, he wrote ‘The Life of Our Lord’ especially for his children in 1849. A few opening lines, “My dear children, I am very anxious that you should know something about the History of Jesus Christ. For everybody ought to know about Him. No one ever lived, who was so good, so kind, so gentle, and so sorry for all people who did wrong, or were in any way ill or miserable, as He was.” Dickens wrote this wonderful account of Jesus for his children so that they would share his love for the book he called “the best that ever was or will be known in the world – The Bible.” Our desire is that the Bible truly be the centerpiece of our programming. You will find a roadmap to hours and hours of sound Biblical instruction on our “programming” page. Note what interests you and join us as often as you can. Hope you’ll pass the word around about Pilgrim Radio to family and friends. Even if they are out of state or overseas, they can hear what you hear at this web site almost anywhere in the world. We’re introducing a new weekend feature, The Best Of, which will include hand-picked, previously aired messages. All of the releases will be different, and a complete surprise. We won’t know very far ahead of time which teachers and topics we’ll be selecting, but they will be the cream of the crop. The Best Of is yet another example of Pilgrim Radio’s continuously changing program schedule to insure freshness and variety. A few closing lines from ‘Holiness’ by Anglican Bishop J.C. Ryle (1816-1900). “The time is very short. A few more years of watching and praying, a few more tossings on the sea of this world, a few more deaths and changes, a few more winters and summers, and all will be over. We shall have fought our last battle, and shall need to fight no more. The presence and company of Christ will make amends for all we suffer here below. Let us take courage. We are not far from home . . .” Thank you, in advance, for your faithful and prayerful support of Pilgrim Radio’s cause. We enjoy the pleasure of your company. You are sincerely appreciated. Warmly in Christ,
